Looking for advice on selling spiderman, daredevil and other marvel books.  What should be professional graded, or just put it on eBay?

How many do you have?   There's a forum here named "Buddy Can you spare a grade" where you can upload pics/scans of a book for opinions on a poss grade.    Then you could look at resources like GoCollect.com/Ebay completed sales etc to get a feel for what that grade is selling for.  There's other resources for ungraded (ie raw) prices like the Overstreet price Guide & various websites.

One thing you shouldn't do if you're new to this is rush into it.

There's a lot of info to digest but to sum it up:
1. Use these boards to research - a wealth of knowledge from people who have been in this hobby for years

2. Don't just ask for advice, go out there and use this forum and Google to help find information on grading and which books are actually worth something.

3. Check eBay sold listings and Gocollect as free resources to help determine value but again, grading is going to be a big factor on what something is worth and you won't have an understanding unless you really do your research.

4. If you care to learn then take it on yourself but take your time before jumping into selling.  Learn how to grade, approximate values and what the best methods of selling are.  If not then try to reach out to a local shop or local collectors who can guide you through the process who aren't looking to buy all of your books at rock bottom prices.

5. Good luck and hope you have something other then dollar books.

So how on earth did you end up with Spiderman 2-280 and not have issue #1???

Of course the amount of time you’re willing to put into learning will affect your bottom line.

if you have little interest or time or your day job pays a ton you may be better off consigning your collection or selling quickly in bulk

everyone is different and has different circumstances and preferences

Here is my advice.

Go here and buy this: https://www.amazon.com/Overstreet-Guide-Grading-Comics-2016/dp/1603601996/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=overstreet+grading+guide&qid=1589996994&sr=8-1

It shows examples of books in all grades possible along with descriptions of what is accepted as defects in each grade and what is not. Match up what you see with your comics. if you are not sure between certain grades, it's best to pick the lower grade just in case.

Then write the grade down for each of the books you have (start with the first 50) and look up on e-bay in the previously sold to see what books in that specific grade sold.

And there you'll know how much what you have is worth.

I’ve got 1,300 (ish) mostly Marvel Silver/Bronze Age Books that were bagged/backed/boxed back in the late 70s.

I’ve graded all of them based on the evolving standards over the years, but am not sure if the many 9.2, 9.4, 9.6, 9.8s I have are appropriately graded. I think I’m too hard on very small flaws on 45 to 55 year old books.

Thoughts?

Be as hard as possible. CGC can still be very strict and adhere to the overstreet grading guide, as they did when they first started out. Case in point, this book here has what I would call a small flaw in the corner and it was removed from anything close to a higher grade range:

From experience most silver/bronze age books that were read once or twice are more within the 8.5 range (always just shy of 9.0). If you are curious, you can always scan some examples and post them in that forum for people to give their opinion of the grade.
