I wonder why L Miller used such a tiny font compared to the regular issues?

Funnily enough, I mention this in the very first post of my Charlton thread, Robot. Great minds, eh?

On a similar theme, size related though not UK related, wait until the issue numbers appear in '65 - you need a microscope to spot them:

There's a whole post going to be devoted to this in the forthcoming D.T.B.A.H.F.N.II.T.T.N.O.G.A.F.F.A.A.R.D.F :)

Quick! Send for Alan Turing and his team.

This is more important than trivial assignments like cracking the U-boat codes.

Your search - D.T.B.A.H.F.N.II.T.T.N.O.G.A.F.F.A.A.R.D.F - did not match any documents.

Suggestions:

Make sure that all words are spelled correctly.

Try different keywords.

Try more general keywords.

Forget Alan Turing, he would be out of his depth.

Call in at Baker Street, it is our only hope.

And if Holmes, too, is baffled, there remains only the nuclear option.

D.T.B.A.H.F.N.II

Does The Battlefield Action Heading For Number 11

Then my brain started to hurt when I realised there was no Battlefield Action 11. That comic began with issue No 16. In a former life it was Foreign Intrigues, Johnny Dynamite and began simply as Dynamite.

Does D.T.B.A.H.F.N.II.T.T.N.O.G.A.F.F.A.A.R.D.F :) have anything to do with Charltons consecutive numbering but different titling or am I barking up the wrong tree? Should I start a thread asking for people to display their favourite covers of dogs barking up wrong trees? Can't be any worse than whoever it was that wanted to see covers that featured the colour yellow.

Doctor Tom Brent and His Flying Nurses 2:   The tolerable numbering only goes as far as 57. Afterwards, attempted recognition definitely forlorn.

(Not quite).

On sale from a UK seller, I wonder what currency would be 1/50 (and is that possibly 1/60 and 1/70 too?) in the late 1950s/early 1960s?? Is the clue in the outline of the stamp? Can't be Australia as they were still using £sd then.

I remember seeing something like this years ago, it's actually a map of Kenya, but the ones that I saw also had the name of said Country printed along with the stamp above.

Wouldn't that be 2d then considering when Charlton price variants existed?

PS: I just remembered that I forgot to post this image last month.

Why, oh why, did they do this?  Oddly the original had the price on it twice for no discernible reason and Len just decided anything they could do....

There should, by rights, be pre-decimal 1/- stampeys of this but I've yet to find one.  And then this happens....

Should've added:  the reason this is interesting is that comics never cost 6p (six new pence) at T&P.  This is cd Mar 71,  Marvels went up to 6p in December, but by that time, distribution had moved from T&P to World. There could be a million explanations for this sticker, but if it did rock up 9+ months late at T&P, they could have simply stamped it along with their DC's. If however it rocked up at World, it would have to have been stickered or similar as they had no facility for stamping.

??? Do you mean ink stamps on 15 cent issues? Incredible Hulk 137 did get distributed here as the GCD has an image of it and loads of other 1/- Marvels around that period.

Indeed, 1/-  T&P ink stamps on cents issues. The last epoch of T&P distribution (April 69 to July 71) has both PV's and stamped cents. I've been trying to find examples of all the stamped ones, but some are incredibly rare (others are more plentiful than the PV's).

As things have been quiet around here lets have a very easy quiz. I'll see how many seconds it takes for the answer to be posted. Who do these legs belong to and where was the image first printed?

Stan. Not sure on where it first appeared.  Fantasy Masterpieces 1?
