Mart Nodell - Green Lantern Sketch

Went to the small Tampa show today with this kind of being the sole reason for me to go. Martin Nodell was there with some of his sketches in a portfolio.

 

I got one of the bigger sketches (about 11x15). Let me just say what a very cordial and sweet guy he seems to be. It was nice to be able to tell him thanks for his work and shake his hand.

 

Also found out he did the character design for the Pilsbury Doughboy, which is very cool. Did not know that one. I almost went for a sketch of the Doughboy over GL.

Wow, nice sketch! Specially cool that you got to talk to Martin and meet him! To me, that's why I usually try to get art pieces at cons, so I can meet the artists and shake their hand.

Awesome!! I was actually seriously thinking about going to the Tampa show for the very same reason, to a get a Nodell sketch. Sadly, the hurricane put a crimp in my travel plans.

Marty pre draws all of his sketches these days. He's one heck of a nice guy but unfortunately age is starting to take over. He's been on my "how's the next one to go" list for several years. Thanks God I've wrong.
