There was a thread recently, I think, with this situation. I can't remember the poster, but I'm pretty sure it was a ComicLink bid.

Sometimes I'll put in a low bid to watch it. Other times, I just search it from time to time to see what the current bid is.  When I do put in a "watch" bid, I'm extremely careful on what I type in.  
One time I put in what I "thought" would be a watch bid, only to realize I became "blind" for a minute or two and read the grade wrong..ie.  thought it was a 9.8 but it was really a 9.6 or 9.4..That nearly bit me and came close to winning the book. AHH!
