Is CGC Going to Universal Labels for Restored Books?

128 posts in this topic

As the only lawyer involved in this discussion, let me put your mind at ease -- if someone were to sell a book in a blue label in such a manner as to hide the fact that it was a restored book, that person is just as guilty of fraud as the seller of the PLOD as an unrestored book.

Sorry, but that really depends on the label, doesn't it? I asked a few legal eagles here for an opinion, and they could not offer one without seeing the final product from CGC.

So how can you? Do you have inside info? 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

I think that perhaps you are the one with the learning disability (coupled with a personality disorder,

Hey, instead of insulting me, why not just ANSWER THE QUESTION.

Why is PURPLE bad and BLUE good?

A new resto grading scale would be ANY COLOR, and all these label changes could be colored purple just as easy, so why blue and not purple? Give me one reason (other than aesthetics or resale value) why this color change is required.

Why are you so "Pro-Resto Book in Universal Label"? Why does it matter to you so much, that you would risk totally upsetting the status quo just to change the color of the label?

Sorry, I just about fainted dead away. Did I just see JC WHINE ABOUT SOMEONE INSULTING HIM? 27_laughing.gif27_laughing.gif27_laughing.gif27_laughing.gif27_laughing.gif27_laughing.gif27_laughing.gif27_laughing.gif27_laughing.gif27_laughing.gif27_laughing.gif27_laughing.gif27_laughing.gif27_laughing.gif27_laughing.gif

You are easily the most insulting poster here. If you are going to dish it out, you need to learn to take it.

And I already did give the answer your question before you even asked it. If you would read the posts instead of just responding to them, you'd see it.

Sorry, Nick, that was presumptuous of me. I should have asked first.

No, I don't have inside info. I happen to know how the tort of fraud works though, and I don't need to see what the new label looks like to say what I did. Neither does any other lawyer familiar with the tort of fraud and deceit.

Now, who did you ask and what did they say? yeahok.gif

There is a very good reason for going to a more detailed restoration scale . . .

This may be true, but perhaps the CGC "label" is not the place for it. 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

You wouldn't have the scale on the label, just the new score. The details of the score could be described elsewhere, just like CGC doesn't put the entire grading scale on the label.

27_laughing.gif27_laughing.gif27_laughing.gif You're freaking hilarious. Whining? Hardly, I just think you need to understand what a insufficiently_thoughtful_person you look like, tossing insults and trying to be the hero.

I know I'm a on here, but you seem to need a BIG mirror.

But why the color BLUE instead of PURPLE? confused-smiley-013.gif

Man, it's hilarious to watch you run away from direct questions. How old are you, 3?

Now, have you found the answer to your question yet? popcorn.gif It was here all along....

Now, have you found the answer to your question yet? popcorn.gif It was here all along....

The only two I've seen relating to the color have been of the "Restored comics will sell for higher prices" and "Whaaaaa! I wanna all Blue CGC comics in my box - me gonna tell my mommy!!" types of replies.

All the stuff about the new label and new numerica/alpha grade, etc. is not relevant, as these proposed features are not color dependant.

If those two points are the beginning and end of the "Color Debate", then you lose, big time.

Why? What difference does it make to you that the labels be a different color?

From the resident Porn King, this is hardly surprising. 27_laughing.gif

getting rid of the purple label would clearly show cgcs objectivity is in favor of the dealer[not the collector]!!! this cannot be true ,it is CLEARLY the wrong thing to do.

What do you care? Not only do you not buy any books in purple labels, you won't even buy books with blue labels if they have any notes on the label! screwy.gif

Because I buy CGC books and I appreciate the ability to easily discern between Restored and Universal.

In fact, I can't think of one valid reason why a COLLECTOR of unrestored books would ever even dream of wanting Frankenstein books sitting in a blue holder. 893whatthe.gif

Can you discern between a book that is VG 4.0 and VF/NM 9.0? If yes, then you shouldn't have any problem with the new system. Or is it that you think you're the only one who can make that distinction, and you're just concerned for the masses? 27_laughing.gif
