Thanks. This was sold to me as a "NM"...needless to say, it's going back. I graded this as a 8.5 as well--just wanted some validation that I wasn't being too harsh with the grading.

You have every right to send this back. I could live with the miscut and light spine stress and call it a 9.0, but that corner crease screams 'weak VF' at me, even if the rest of the book was cherry.

 

Awesome cover, however.
