Have you actually subbed cards through CGC? It sucks a** even when traffic isn't that high. 😂

I became an "elite member" in mid-March because PSA closed down operations and CGC grading services seemed reasonable despite the fact that in TCG, they do NOT command the same price points as their competition. I got an order to their offices by the 18th. 250 cards with subgrades. It was very painful to even find cards in the dropdown, having to try a plethora of different names just to get to the point where I could move on in the process. Fast forward to a few weeks later and this price increase. I felt banboozled. Like I paid for a service that said one thing, but then the prices were going to be another. So I tried to make the best of it and get a 500 card (max submission) entry done. I have received 4-5 different errors throughout the past week when trying to get cards entered. Over the course of THREE DAYS, spending 8 HOURS A DAY on the website (I'm fortunate enough to be my own boss so I have this kind of time to spare), I managed to enter 130 cards. That's it. Constantly refreshing, back-arrowing, refreshing caches, you name it. I reached out on IG and they said they'd make a note of it if I sent an email, but they also said there would be no grace period. I know that they said they charge $2 per card if card info isn't filled in, so to just make the deadline; I entered a final card that I named "miscellaneous" at a card count of 370. Couldn't get subgrade option to load, didn't care. It sucks that I'll likely be paying an extra ~$800 in fees just because the website wouldn't work, but what's the alternative? Paying even more because the website was broken and not being able to enter the cards into the system at all?

I'm pretty disappointed with my experience with CGC and I've barely been a member for a month. Depending on how they handle all this, I think I'll just wait for PSA to reopen and take these 750 cards I've submitted as a lesson learned when it comes to giving alternate grading companies a chance.

TLDR The website was extremely broken. I managed to get 130 cards of a 500 submission to enter over the course of 3 days and over 24 hours of camping the site trying to make it work. Then I marked my final card as a quantity of 270 and named "Miscellaneous" to at least meet the deadline. Managed to get a submission # and price tag receipt before any pricing was updated, so that is good. But the website is super-trash and the ceo seems extremely tone deaf and doesn't seem to value his customers/subscribers whatsoever. I guess that's just par the course when there is demand in a service and not a lot of competition. Reminds me of the Cell Phone providers 10 years ago before they got broken up by companies like TMobile.

With the price increases and the delay in returns CGC is seeing, what’s the point in giving them business when PSA is planning a July 1 return to full services? PSA attracts a higher customer base and prices are extremely similar + they will have had a few months to catch up on anything and implement new processes to not get so backed up. I went with a CGC membership because of prices and quick turnaround time but it looks like both of those are gone now.
