It really comes down to how many books we've owned that could have been owned at the same time, right?

Let's say you put $10,000 into some nice books, and you sell them and make $15,000.

So, you buy $15,000 in nice books and sell them and make $18,000.

Now you buy $18,000 in nice books and sell them and make $25,000.

Now you're holding $25,000 in nice books, but you sold $43,000 in other books through the years that you no longer have.

Some of those earlier books have increased since you sold them, so maybe you once owned $75,000 in nice books (current value) in addition to the $25,000 value you now have.

But, there's not a scenario where you once owned $100,000 in books at the same time.  The $25,000 in value you have now is the most you've ever held at once.  It's not a loss, if it's a gain.

:applause:

I have to keep reminding myself of this when I look back at what I once had vs what I have today.

Yes I done that math in my head to.

Same with TMNT #1 CGC 9.8 and your CGC 9.6 lol

I have definitely rolled that money into other books and compounded it to a nice chunk of change.

But what was the context of those transactions? I was bidding on some of your auctions years ago on eBay before I even knew you were on the boards and I don't think I've ever seen a BIN from you. Always auction style starting at a dollar and on some big slabs which is very admirable and a buyer friendly approach on your part. Prospect sees your listing, gets excited, and can win it in a week or so as opposed to you holding onto the book for two years with some stratospheric unrealistic BIN price.

BIN are for pansies. :gossip:

None of those books I mentioned I auctioned on eBay.   C-Link, dealer sale, and I think a boardie sale.

Really on the only Venom #1 CGC 9.9 (error Black) I want back. The rest I made a nice profit and reinvested into more books which then I sold to compound the profit.  So while it's nice to sell one book and make $X it just took me longer to sell multiple books to get to that current todays value of $X if I had just held onto the book etc.  Really I can't complain.
