CGC cert numbers that don't show in the database 4 4

I am guessing this has been asked before but wondering what it means when the cert number on the CGC label cannot be found when I search for it in the CGC database?

This happened to me once. I filed a customer service request through the website and they re-added it to the database. They couldn't tell me how it happened but they fixed it. You just need to send a message with the CGC certification number, issue and other data.

They may also ask you for a "ransom" picture of the comic so that they know you actually have it. I think I took a picture of it next to a water bill with my name and address on it. Good luck!

It can also depend on when it was graded. I do know that some of the early graded books and sample label books are not searchable or will show up with incorrect information as they were first testing what they were going to include.

If a book has been submitted for a crack, press, and resubmit, then CGC will purge the original cert number from the database.
