Popular Post androolx
I recently sold a Thor #282. As I was examining the book before sale, I noticed what appeared to "THOR" doodled with pen and/or marker in the top margin of page 19. The "doodling" appeared to be printed and there was no marker bleed-through, but I thought the book certainly could not have been printed that way, so I sold the book as having writing in it. Then a couple days ago I picked up another Thor #282, and sure enough, the same "doodling" was present. Apparently, the books were printed that way. Is this kind of thing unusual? Were all copies of Thor #282 printed this way? Thanks Off Panel, KirbyJack, jcjames and 2 others
csaag
hmm, no idea but what are the odds that you bought back the same book?
DWL
I have three copies, I just looked and all three have the same "doodle". Fascinating. Off Panel

Interesting stuff, thanks for sharing! Off Panel and androolx 1
Jayman
Thanks for sharing! I even found the passionate fan’s review of issue 278 to be interesting.
THE_BEYONDER
I had the same type of experience when I was grading out some Miller DDs last year. With issue 172, I thought that someone had taken a marker to the Spidey head. Called it a reader & put it back in the box. It wasn’t until I acquired another copy that I realized it’s production, and on all copies. ADAMANTIUM

I remember being new and passing on old generation slabs, price variants and etc that I could have sworn were something, picked them up and even brought them to the register or posted on the boards and didnt end up with them Most of those I've tried to learn, but the thor and spidey just seem so random, like there is no way to remember Haha Still fun and interesting Edited June 26, 2021 by ADAMANTIUM THE_BEYONDER
ADAMANTIUM
I guess if you know these examples The next time you see something of the sort, you won't put it back in the bin, if it's one you want

I thought for sure the letters along the top had been hit with a highlighter. Just happened to come across it as I was going through some stacks just now, and gave it a second look because of this thread. Turns out all copies are coloured that way ADAMANTIUM
MAY1979
I've wonder about that 282 letters pages for years. Knew it was on all copies but no idea why. BTW a great page 1 splash in 282 with a unique Thor image in the vein of the half Spider-Man/half Peter Parker face. Comics are trimmed at the printer, not every copy gets a perfect cut. Printing is tough and the paper can be moved while it's being run through the press, slitters that cut the paper can be set up wrong ect... MAY1979
Perhaps Thor 282 would have become more of hot book after Loki TV, were there actually more than a small amount graded. Almost like it was penalized for having a low census population When mine came back from CGC in 2006 it was the only copy on the census.
