1 1

45 posts in this topic

Same question as the artists thread, just with writers. Who are your five favourite writers, from any and all eras of your choice.

Here are mine, to start the show. Numbers 1 and 2 are tied for my favourite, the other 3 are in no particular order:

1. Jonathon Hickman

2. Geoff Johns

3. Stan Lee

4. Simon Furman

5. James Robinson

I couldn't care less about people that are just writers for comics and draw nothing so mine are artists who write their own work...

Kim Deitch

Robert Crumb

Chris Ware

and the last two aren't "comic book" artist/writers, but oh well...

Gary Larson

Kaz

Aaaaargh I should have put James Robinson over Warren Ellis. :censored:

Oh, to hell with it, I'm changing mine. lol thanks Bird. I was stuck on my fifth and totally blanked on Robinson.

This was more difficult than anticipated, but here are my favs, in no particular order:

Stan Lee

Will Eisner

Terry Moore

Dave Sim (never gets the credit he deserves as a writer)

Neil Gaiman

Honourable mention: Archie Goodwin (he was so good at so many things, but his stories for Warren and on Secret Agent X-9 were great)

no love for Bendis? I considered him, for those do-it-all creator fans his early stuff that he draws & writes is wonderful.

Another do-it-all guy I love is Eddie Campbell. All his solo work is crazy cool...funny, silly, heartwarming. Then the Bacchus Eyeball Kid stuff is insane.

  1. Alan Moore
  2. Brian K Vaughan
  3. Jason Aaron (minus the Avengers run)
  4. Donny Cates
  5. Robert Kirkman
  6. Chip Zdarksy / Matt Fraction
  7. Chris Claremont

I could go on - I tend to like the writers more than even the artists.
