There is a difference between being "received" as in package delivered, and "received" as in opened and processing. The "clock" starts whenever they get to it, as it's simply an estimate.

Not true - on MULTIPLE occassions I have been told the clock starts when someone at their office gets the package, not when they open it. That is why there was such a jump in time around June because people were expected deliveries of their items based on the turnaround times but those times were based on them opening them the same day as they arrived ... since they were back logged they changed the estimates to reflect time idling, opened, graded. So estimate is OK. What is NOT ok is being told one date repeatedly and having that date pushed out. What is NOT ok is having my books sitting in grading for over 1 month. What is NOT ok is being ignored when I followed up to their own timeline. This is terrible customer service and let's face it we don't have much choice. You can go to PGC or CBCS but we all know they sell lower than CGC does. I've said this before and i will say it again, transparency is key.

It is true. Why do you think they added an, "opening packages from the week of ____" statement to the website...?

What is the 2 month mark past when you think your TAT 'should' have been completed?

Afraid this is all true. The volume of books is just insane these days, and they cant keep up. Im still waiting for books submitted and received in July =(
Im turned off my auto renew and probably wont submit anything new until they get the process more streamlined.

My Jim Starlin books have been at CGC since Mid June and I'm questioning if they will be home for Christmas at this point.  They have been marked as G/E/I for 3 or more weeks.  It sucks but there isn't much you can do besides to just wait it out.

I sent in comics and CGC got them in May ... in Sept they were grading/encapsulating and have been that way since then ... beginning of October i emailed in and was told they would be done this month... STILL not done so I emailed again, no answer .. emailed again 1+ weeks later and this is what I got ..

"Your Modern invoice will probably be at least two or three more weeks and the Value invoice will be at least another 45-60 days."

So, on May 2nd the site said turn arounds were 55 days for modern 79 days for Value ... a month later it was 101 and 141 ... by the end of July it was 105 / 150 ... right now it is 126 / 146 ... clock starts WHEN THEY RECEIVE IT not when they open it - this was their own admission and is why times jumped so much so that people could get a better estimate ... they opened these May 5th ... so let's do some math ... that is about 26 weeks. In business days that is roughly 120-130 ... So its spot on for getting back the ones which have been in grading/encapsulation for OVER ONE MONTH but since they haven't hit QC that is OBVIOUSLY not happening soon .... what REALLY pisses me off is this - This is what I got from them on Oct 5th:

"Thank you for your email, we received your submission on 6/22/21 and the Modern tier of service is running an approximate 106 business days, this submission is currently in the grading room being graded currently."

to which I replied "Understood.. to correct you though you recieved them in May and opened them in June, by that count it has been 22 weeks or about 110 business days. I should have had them back last week and they haven’t even been qc’d" and they came back with:

"That is correct, the submission will not be completed until the middle of October.  106 business days is 22 business weeks minus holidays and weekend."

So, there were being graded on 10/04-05 .. but now I am being told that it's another AT LEAST 2-3 weeks or 10-15 business days .... on an order that their own sites says I should have in my hands in less than one week .... and an order I should have had in my hands 4 weeks later will now be arriving 7-12 WEEKS later?!?!? WTF! This is NOT OK! That will LITERALLY be nearly 1 year for the Value issue ... and in terms of days - when I sent them in it was 55 / 79 .... 140-145 / 160-190 ... or roughly 3x as long ...

I am sorry I am beating this dead horse but I am hoping someone at CGC will see this and realize how screwed up this is to charge what they do -- I had plans to sell issues which now I can't because it's taking too long.

My 200 books were graded end of September (received date 6/11) and all of them are still sitting GEI for over a month now.

CGC also has about another 600-700 more of my books because I submit every month as do many others.

So my point is I doubt this is your main source of income unlike myself and many others, so if you are upset how do you think we feel currently? lol

My Thor 337 with a Simonson remarque has been stuck in GEI since September 21. Called CGC a few weeks ago and was told should be out any day. What's funny I sent other books for the same signing and those were received almost two months ago. Go figure...

EDIT: Ignore this tripe. It makes little to no sense. I'm confused too.

I wish you well in getting them back soon. I'm going to be sent to hell for saying this, but I have zero sympathy for wannabe dealers (not stating that's you, OP, just a general statement) suddenly finding their means of profiting off little old ladies stymied.

I find that rather hard to pity.

The only thing that really bothers me is there are submissions in the same tier as mine (Modern Slow) that were received later than mine.  I'm talking just a week or two after mine with the same number of books that have already been
graded and shipped! ("Nah! get this box instead. It's newer, We'll make this older received box wait a long time").
I know they are doing some testing out some new procedures for grading and getting the books out the door a lot sooner but those books are much later than mine...Like a couple of months later.
Mine was received on 6/17 (SFG) and now have been in G/E/I for nearly 7 full weeks.  Just crazy to me.

The clock starts when your package is delivered, BUT (and I think this is what most people fail to understand) the TAT from when your package was delivered is whatever the current posted TAT is. Not whatever the posted TAT was on the day your package was delivered.

Making up numbers but for example: Your package was delivered 10/01 and on the day TAT was 45 days. Now TAT is 123 days. This is now your TAT, 123 days from 10/01. If it changes to 80 days tomorrow YOU'RE AT 80 DAYS FROM 10/01. If it changes again to 200 days in a week, YOU'RE AT 200 DAYS FROM 10/01.  Forget about whatever the TAT was when your package was delivered. Today's posted TAT is your TAT from date of delivery.

Not much to say other than "it is what it is". It's been a major cluster the past few months, and I can only hope to see the end of it soon. There are some signs of it getting better, but other than signings, I'm not really sending much more in at the moment.

Wow, you have 800-900 books being graded? I'm honestly surprised there's not a "dealer tier" or "volume tier" for high-volume submitters that gets turned around more quickly. I understand they're buried in total volume right now, but I guess I always assumed the super-submitters had a special pipeline or something...

I understand that they're fairly short staffed (though maybe they've hired enough new people at this point). They COULD charge for a special dealer tier, but I don't see how they could logistically deal with more books right now with the staff they have, not that they're not currently charging too much for the quality of service being provided.
