What causes warping in pulps?

Thanks for the replies! Grading pulps is so tough as I usually don't have another copy to compare - nor the years of experience in examining pulps. Unless it's a common manufacturer defect (not that I can confirm that either), I'm thinking to knock it down at least half a grade (e.g. from fine to vg/fine).  Understanding pulps are quite rare compare to comics, am I being too harsh?

From my limited experience, no.  As long as something like that is in the description and the pulp has decent pictures, I wouldn't have a problem with it.  My biggest pet peeve is when a cover has been glued back on, and that isn't disclosed.  And always put a pic of the spine
