A lot of people (myself included) use eBay sold listings to determine value. It's best if you can find sold listings that were an auction - it can help determine overall interest - although looking at a number of overall sold listings and finding a sweet spot is good too. I know I've won auctions or missed auctions where a book went far below value, maybe because of a botched listing or something like that, so the more comps you can find, the better you're able to determine the actual value.

For graded books you can also use GPA, but there's a cost for that.

I also use eBay Sold Listings, Auctions only, this is actual FMV since this is what folks are actually paying, BIN prices are High.

You will need to have an approx. grade on your book and then you need to find sold books that were in the same grade as yours. (Use the pictures), I also only look for auctions that had a minimum of 5 bidders,  be careful on books with numerous bids/bidders, be sure there was not a bidding war that drove the price higher.

Although it is outdated, the Overstreet Price Guide is full of useful info, the Overstreet Grading Guide (with illustrations) will help you grade your books properly.

You can also post pics of the books in the https://boards.cgccomics.com/forum/42-hey-buddy-can-you-spare-a-grade/ section and folks will give you an approx. grade, you need clear pics of the front cover, corners/edges, spine, splash page and inside front cover, centerfold and rear cover.

Here are the grading standards and a glossary to help you out.

The glossary below is very good, the grading standards on this site are outdated.

You also need a basic knowledge about comics.....are you looking at a silver age spiderman #10?  Or a $1.00 cover price miscellaneous issue with absolutely no value......your question is a good one, but specific s are needed....

And keep in mind prices on sites are for Slabbed comics, not RAW. This isn't always the case, but I've seen far too many examples where a seller references the value of their comic from a site that only posts values of Graded/Slabbed comics.

If you plan to slab a RAW comic, make sure to factor in the price (and time) for shipping (to and from + insurance), cleaning/pressing, grading and service speed.

HI all, I am fairly new to the hobby.  Rather, I enjoyed as a kid and only recently getting back into it.  I have always liked original art as well.  I really like X-men Whilce's pages.  What is their price range for his OA X-Men pages now adays? Like 15-20K for a choice Bishop DPS or SPS? And like 5K for a basic page with no heroes or villains, very uninteresting but a story page and a Whilce?  As I am building out my collection I want to get a sense of what is realistic and what is not and budget, etc.

Thank you!

Alex
