Grader notes?
1 1

4 posts in this topic

I recently got notice that my submission is on its way back to me. One of the books was graded lower than expected and no grader notes were given. Usually I always received notes on books graded 9.4 and under and now nothing. I would love to know why.

Hello,

Thank you for your question.

Grader Notes are made at the graders' discretion; they are not a guaranteed part of the service but are provided as a courtesy to paid members and dealers when available. Often, they may not be entirely comprehensive or give a 100% accurate description of the defects and the notes vary from grader to grader.

Multiple professionals examine every collectible to ensure accuracy and consistency.  I am sorry that no grader notes were taken on your item.  The grader notes are not required nor a guaranteed part of the grading service.  Since no notes were taken by the grading team, there is no further information I can provide to you regarding the grade of your item.  I apologize for any inconvenience.

Just a casual comment, but I'd think that for CGC to maintain it's reputation as a the most trusted third-party grading service, it should live up to it's mission statement of "providing clear, objective and impartial assessments of authenticity and grade", and Grader notes should be required for all submissions.  Clear and specific notes would demonstrate the clarity, objectiveness, and impartiality of the assessment in relation to the grading scale.  Just a suggestion.
