What do you guys think? Book has an obvious miscut throughout. Getting it back from CGC next week.

Tough one... eye appeal is great but some structural stuff going on. I'll guess 3.5. Very nice!

In my experience, books with severely miscut top/bottom edges are frequently cockeyed (strongly tilted) once slabbed, since the encapsulation room crew often uses the bottom edge (rather than the spine) to align the book in the well/holder.  Let's hope they show a bit more care in this case.    Otherwise, this wonderful book may show up in a magazine-size holder looking like this:

What's about your grade experience in that miscut copy?

yeah 3.5 for sure

I've never submitted a book that had a miscut so severe that it cut thru story panels.  However, I imagine there are examples out there.

That didn't take long!    The encapsulation issue I referred to above arises because, if "properly" aligned (as shown below), the book will be taller than a GA/SA holder allows.  I guess we'll know soon enough whether I'm right or wrong.

Educated through CGC grading contents, CGC always gives generous grades for GA copies.  I will go for 4.0/4.5.

I thought this would be an interesting book to share in this thread.  It's not everyday you see a book so cockeyed and severely miscut including a few of the pages.

Pretty happy .  Glad the book was not placed in those ugly oversized slabs.  I guess CGC has managed to somehow fit badly mis-cut books into their regular sized holders.

I'd be happy too -- that's about as nice a placement as you'll ever see with a book that severely miscut.    Not even 1/8^th inch to spare in the vertical direction.    Well done!

For those who have miscut books placed in those over-sized CGC slabs... Might want to think about re-submitting them so they can be placed in the regular sized ones instead.

I just can't fit em inside my CGC box and just never a fan of all that dead space
