BLG
Hi picked this book up however it has a top detached staple. What would you grade this as? Thanks in advance! Galen130
scburdet
I'd go with 7.5 ± 0.5 without accounting for the detachment. I really don't know how much of a ding this is given the rest of the book looks pretty good.

LowGradeBronze
Can't see the staple at all in the first picture. Looks detached from the first wrap as well as from the cover. Either way, it's a 4.5 with very best 5.0 (Would otherwise be a 6.5 to 7.0)

The front cover is important, but so is the back cover, the spine (to check for splits, separations, color flakes, etc), the inside covers (to check for toning, tanning, staining, tape, etc), the centerfold (to check for detachment, rust staining at the staples, etc), and the pages (to check for color, suppleness, brittleness, dog-eared corners, and the same types of blemishes/defects you might see on the covers). Forum regulars are a pretty relaxed bunch ( ), willing to offer grades based on much more limited data. However, I still think all PGMs should include at least one image of the back cover. BLG
Hi - sorry I forgot the back pic was very focused on the staple. The back is very clean IMO. Thanks!
