I recently received back two comics from CGC. I have never had issues with CGC before but I do not believe that these are the comics I sent in. They are both severely damaged. I pressed the comics myself, I would have never sent these in for grading much less sent them in on the Fast Track tier. This is very disappointing, I have heard similar stories on You Tube and other internet sites but never have experienced issues. I guess it's possible there was damage to the box during shipping but either way it's a huge disappointment and a waste of money.

Sorry this happened, how were they packed? It looks like they got dinged in the same spot?

Also do you have any before photos for comparison? Maybe there are traits you can match?

Seen that before.  Yup, probably damaged on the way to CGC.  The box might have collapsed upon impact, dinging the corner, and then sprung back after impact.

When CGC gets it, no apparent damage to the box.  They open it, go through the normal steps, no idea that it looked differently on your end.  There is nothing you can do, from personal experience and reading on the boards.

That's why I double box, sometimes triple box now, depending on value.  And even then, it's possible to damage the contents (truck rolling over it) and have the same thing happen.

I think there is some kind of tag made that can be put on an inner box that changes color when severely impacted, measures the jarring effect, for say delicate scientific instruments being sent.  Warns you that something bad happened.  Very expensive for those, I presume, but I'm not sure.

I mean I understand but the packages are insured. All books were crunched on the same corner, should have been obvious. Would be nice (I know they are busy), but would be nice if they spot something obvious to reach out to the customer and say hey, we think there is a problem do you want us to continue. I mean those books were badly damaged and they are modern age comics. I know older more valuable comics can still be worth serious money even in mid grades. Either way, lesson learned. I will double box from here on out but a lot of people spend hundreds sometimes thousands a month grading. When you Fast Track them that is a big ouch!!! Common sense would say hey, the box is damaged maybe we need to inspect and notify the customer. But I get it, my responsibility. I will just send 25 at a time and pre-screen.

And CGC subtly but successfully upsells a customer.

I don't know how that is up-selling.  There is no cost to prescreen, unless it doesn't pass.

And if it doesn't pass the grade, you're glad it got kicked before you spent even more on a bad grading candidate.  It's like insurance - disaster averted.

If you have a reject at $8, that's better than paying the full grading fee for a book you now wish you hadn't submitted.  That's at least $24, as high as $130.

Ah, as a non-submitter, I just assumed there would be a cost for every service.  But you know what they say...

Never assassinate anyone, because you only make two asses out of Nate and I.
