Looking for advice:

Bought this AoS #505 Collectors Edition from eBay a couple weeks ago for an awesome price.  Only when I received it did i realise that although it’s the Collectors Edition, the banner notes don’t reflect that. Every other one of these have seen label it as such and have a “holografx foil cover” note.

It checks out on the census, and does look like a 9.8. Have CGC just missed the notes? Or could this be a standard edition slab with another book put in it?  It was registered on 6th June.

Thanks

Pretty sure they just put in the wrong label. The label on your slab is meant for the $1.50 edition; your slab should have received the "Collector's Edition" and "Holo-grafx foil cover." label instead.

Yeah, that looks to be the case.  @PaulioScorchio  Since it was purchased on ebay, most likely you will have to pay for a reholder to get this fixed.  We have a 2 week time frame for mechanical error issues, and that applies to people who have submitted the book.  However, you could send this picture and text to service@cgccomics.com and ask if we will reholder this for you for free, seems it was mislabeled.

Thank you Mike! I’ll send the e-mail and see what happens. I’m in the UK so would that be an issue?

That would have no effect on their decision.

So, CGC agreed they would reholder free of charge and I submitted the book as a ME.  Thank you for the advice on here, I'm delighted they did that so bravo to CGC for their service.

They have now marked the submission as shipped and it is on its way back to me.  However, whilst the notes on the new number 4100921001 now look accurate, no grade is showing even though the status is Shipped.

Should I be concerned?  I'd be gutted if it's been regraded.

It's my feeling the book will come back the same grade.

Re-holdered comics do not get re-graded unless the slab has been damaged, and that damage appears to have affected the condition of the comic book. So, it makes sense to me that no grade would be shown. No need to be concerned right now.

if you dig around the cgc website a bit, you can find out more information about CGC reholder service.  I strongly suspect you will find the answer.

The book will not be regraded unless it was damaged.  I would be more than happy to check on the grade, if the OP wants  to send me the submission number.  The grade has not been entered in the cert lookup.

Man, the response times here are quick.  I sure wish the C2E2 thread would get that level of service.  I suppose I expect too much.

No disrespect to the mods who generally do a pretty good job here (but honestly many times are answering questions by entitled people too lazy to take 3 seconds to check out the company website), but the C2E2 discussion is a whole different animal, that hopefully CGC is thinking (or rethinking) through carefully at the highest levels.

Yeah, I get that.  And I made my position clear in that C2E2 thread that Mike has done a good job being a voice for the board (as it relates to the QC issues) and I don't envy the position that management has put him in by being a middle man to take the punches under these circumstances.  But given that @mnelsonCGC probably doesn't frequent the boards, Mike is the only one I can b**ch to who can relay the feelings of the board to those who are making the decisions.  Really, it's just a boiling over of frustrations and I apologize to OP for taking their post off track, but the silence in the face of everything is not a good look, especially when things look like they should be clear cut given Marvel's response to retailers.  I don't know if Mike is still reading that other thread, but I just felt he needed to know that it's not something some of us will let go of lightly.

I'm basically here to help people out, keep members in line, keep people amused the best I can, take punches, make positive changes, and a long list of other things.  I've took much worse beatings working in the woods for 35 years, and received a decent amount of kudos here.  My skin can change from thick to soft.  For me, it's all good here.

Glad to hear that.  Just know, any negativity is largely directed at CGC Corporate.  We appreciate the voice you've lended to us, we just wish Corporate felt the same.

This is what I was told:

You have to check under the original certification number to view the grade.  Since it was just a correction, the book will have the same certification number as it did originally.  If you check that number on the certification lookup screen on our website, it will show the correct information.

As you can see, it now shows The "Collectors Edition" note.
