23 posts in this topic

This guy is one of the best Platinum artists around as far as I am concerned. I already a color cover proof to More Fun #30, but I want more!!!

If anyone has or knows of any work by Flessel that is or might be available, PLEASE PM me.

Thanks! thumbsup2.gif

I know it's probably not what your looking for, but surprisingly Creig is still cranking out commissions. Do a search on the Comicart-l group and you'll see several examples he's created in recent months. They're really nice, especially considering his age.

Here's a gallery with some nice examples:

Amazing that he is still active in his nineties. 893applaud-thumb.gif

He did an interview in CBA last year. I started a thread in the GA forum, but I still haven't read it. frown.gif

If I had the duckies, I would commission him to do a redraw of the Double Action Comics #2/Adventure Comics #37 cover. I really like that cover. Definitely, the epitomizes the whole Adventure comics genre.

I didn't think anyone definitively knew who drew that cover. I have heard it may have been O'Mealia, Flessel, or someone else. 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

According to GCD, it's Flessel. Though could have been O'Mealia. Guess the only way to find out is ask Flessel.

893scratchchin-thumb.gif I know they both worked on the interiors to that book. Honestly, the cover looks more like O'Mealia to me. Actually, it doesn't really fit either of their styles exactly.

I was going through the covers of 32-40. Of those, 34 and 35 are credited to Fred Guardineer. Now, O'Mealia is nowhere to be seen. Now, this means 1 of 2 things. GCD is wrong and all those but 34 and 35 are O'Mealia. Or It is Flessel. O'Mealia's first cover is 41. I think, we need a serious Adventure Comics guru to tell us who did what.

I would like to hear it. thumbsup2.gif O'Mealia didn't do a whole lot of comic work, so it wouldn't surprise me to find out that he wasn't the artist. The stuff he did do was gorgeous though. Action 2 is in my top 10 golden age covers. That book's front art is truly under-appreciated.
