Been working on my acetate variants of Woodgod, but as awesome as he is....I think the Torpedo might be a better choice. :flipbait:

Four staples.

I think the acetate cover fell off!

doh!

I just acquired an x-men 120 with unusual staples. 4 like your book, but no extra staple holes on the cover. I assume the book was stapled without a cover and ran through again to get a cover? The top staple alignment was close and almost stapled on top of each other. I'm rather curious how CGC treats and anomaly like this.

Not sure what the highest grade these books would get as a manufacturing defect. Maybe a 9.4?

I think that's what happened to these books, they were stapled and oops ran out of covers so loaded the covers and sent thru the stapling machine again.

Exactly it's actually a pretty common manufacturing defect. Just goes unnoticed a most of the time.

The staples, while placed in the wrong position, do look very nice.  Maybe 9.6/9.8.

I recall a 9.6 copy of Fantastic Four 20 that had badly-offset staples as shown here, so it's actually possible.

I should send it to CCS first for a quick press.  See if they notice the staples before putting it in the press.:insane:

CGC is trying to churn through so many comics and cards now, they won’t notice anything.

I wonder if any YouTuber is sending in comics with checker traps and seeing if they notice it.  Seems like a good way to get tons of views on a video.

As a checker trap, send in a stack of the next hot book, and create flip books in the corners of some of them.

If they did take the time to open the book....they would most likely rip the cover clean off trying to do so.:tonofbricks:

I'm sure they would put some dainty finger dents to it first. Gots to give the costumers their moneys worth.

I recall that FF 20 being a really expensive book, unread and in mint condition because it’s basically unreadable without trashing it. Interesting conflict there. Looks nice in a slab, as long as you don’t dwell on the complications and obsess about the atrocious staple positioning. Of course, not the only example out there; far from it.

I meant that in grading the staples themselves, I would give them 9.6/9.8, very minty.  If we're grading staples now.....
