Extra Staples
1 1

I have this X-Men #6 and it has two extra Staples (no acetate) in the second half of the book.  Do those look like they were done during production or after?  They don't serve any purpose as the other staples are in tight.

:roflmao:

I would assume that it was stapled without the cover, noticed, and then stapled correctly.

Thanks, I am going to have it graded, but I don't want to get a green label because of two extra staples.  It won't be a high grade as it does have a subscription crease in it.

I don't think you need to be concerned about getting a green label...

I totally agree with this, and bought a Strange Tales #104 CGC 7.0 last year that was exactly like this book...four sets of staples on the inside but only two visible along the spine.

This was not noted in the graders notes, and the only way I found out about the extra staples is when I cracked the book out to read it...

Looks like part of the manufacturing process.

Likely a coverless reject copy that had a cover attached to it so the publisher could fulfill their quota. The cover has no extra staple holes so it makes sense.

That is almost surely a married cover.

It got graded as a 4.5, but it didn't mention the extra staples.  Only thing in notes was:

Grader Notes:
light spine stress lines to cover
moderate creasing to cover

I think CGC should mention this type of thing in the notes, but I may be in the minority...

Extra staples aren't as uncommon as you may think. And I'm assuming this was a blue universal label..?
