MYSTIC #18 CGC 4.5 Universal, OW/W pages. Classic anti-communist horror cover by Bill Everett!, with a theme still sadly relevant even today. I've been a fan of this book for 20+ years and it hasn't gotten any easier to find. Beautiful glossy sheen and fire-engine reds; looks more like a midgrade, but discreet half-inch spine splits top and bottom, 1" tear bottom of the back cover. You can also view raw scans of the book before submission for a better look at it... see spoilers below. Last sale of a 4.5 was $2250 in Dec 2021!... take this one for less.

THE HAWK #10 CGC 5.5 Universal, OW pages. Excellent Baker rarity with bold lush colors. Flat pretty copy that I would have called a 6.0. Very tough above VG. GPA: 6.5 $2160 Jan '21, 3.5 $264 Jan '22.

OUT OF THE SHADOWS #9 CGC 4.0 Universal. Great jet black skeleton cover with rich colors, and the gloss looks wet on this book. Top tier "The Corpse That Came to Dinner" lead story, with classic art by Reed Crandall that rivals anything he did for EC (**a page now added in spoilers**). Fun over-the-top PCH book. A CGC 4.5 just sold for $700.

The newsstand I went to had signs posted all around the comic shelves with that exact message. Of course, those signs were the only thing we didn't read!

What I find to be ironic is they were worried about us reading for free (when we basically spent every cent we had in that store on pop, chips, candy or comics) but had no issue with the crowd of middle-aged dudes idly flipping through the porn mags that were always conveniently placed just above the comic shelves...
