I'm thinking 2.5 too. Great book to have and it will present nicely in a case.

2.5 seems like the consensus. I'd be curious if pressing wouldn't cause more damage since it seems like there's some tape holding the binding together? I'd definitely want someone to prep it to maximize the aesthetic appeal before it gets encapsulated.

Is the spine split?   Tape marks along the spine on both sides.

It could very well be. I am not brave enough to try and remove the tape.

Don’t do it. Just check it if you can see the split along the spine.

Cool book to be sure, but IMO CGC would hammer it. If the spine is fully split or close to it under the tape, I'd expect a 1.5... if not maybe 1.8 to 2.0. There's also some heavy-handed color touch on the right edge and on the spine... and hard to be sure, but I'd think a non-zero chance that the top overhang is trimmed as well.

I checked, and this is a split by the bottom staple. I do not think the whole spine is split.

When I looked at these two areas, it seems like left over tape residue. As for the top being trimmed, I believe you are correct. It's a very uneven job of trimming.

I don't think the pressing will benefit for your book.  As is.  Still high value despite a low grade.
