Hi @comicfanboy007, thank you for contacting CGC. We likely would have no way of knowing that the customer had passed away, so if the order was already paid for, we would just ship them back as usual. Alternatively, if the order is still processing or being held for whatever reasons, their family would have to contact us and provide a death certificate for us to release the order after it was finished and paid for. Thank you!

So what happens if the submitter passes away, the order is still being processed or being held for what ever reason and the family doesn’t contact CGC? Does CGC keep the books? Does CGC sell them? Does CGC turn over the books to the state government as unclaimed property?

If CGC isn't contacted, then what else would they do except grade the books and mail them to the address provided with the order?

Hello @Comicbookfanboy

If we are holding a submission due to non-payment or a failed delivery, we will attempt to contact the customer via multiple channels of communication to resolve the issue. In nearly all cases, this will put us in contact with the surviving family members and we will work with them. Any issues involving "uncollected" goods would be handled in accordance with Florida state law.

I hope this was helpful. Have a good day!
