If the Golden Age offered something the Silver Age and beyond never could, it was the grizzly content that they could get away with back then. Cover art frequently featured someone about to be impaled by or cut in half with some type of device. Vats of acid or boiling oil were also commonplace and the hero was USUALLY in time to save the sidekick or damsel in serious distress!!! Timely, MLJ, Ace and others offered up some of the best covers of this type. They deserve their own thread!
