lbcolefan
Book was already signed when I purchased it back in the early 80’s. Not sure if it was really sighed by Kirby. Any thoughts on the added value of the signature to the book if it is legit? Lots of overall light wear with a book length reading crease near the spine. Cover and centerfold securely attached. scburdet
around 4.5. Looks and is placed like other JK signatures I've seen. Of course there are no "witnessed" cgc signatures for comparison. I'd call it genuine as a unqualified analyzer lbcolefan
JollyComics
If it's unrestored, it will get the blue label with a note - name signed on first page. Since it has a reading crease, it will be 5.0/5.5. The book has some good defects that can be pressed out easily. After pressing, it will move to 5.5 to 6.0 but I have a big question about the man's forehead on BC. Is that a tape pull? lbcolefan
marvelmaniac
Bottom edge wear w/color loss, top edge dented, right lower corner ding, left lower corner blunted/creased w/color loss, multiple creases/scratches and a long fold on left side of book that break color, slight staple tears, discolored staples, minor spine wear w/multiple spine ticks, slight spine roll, slight foxing on rear cover. 5.0 VERY GOOD/FINE (VG/FN): Back to TopAn above-average but well used comic book. An accumulation of bindery/printing defects is allowed. Minor to moderate cover wear apparent, with minor to moderate creases and/or dimples. Inks have moderate to low reflectivity. Blunted corners are increasingly common, as is minor to moderate staining, discoloration, and/or foxing. Stamped or inked arrival dates may be present. A minor to moderate spine roll is allowed. A spine split of up to 1/2" may be present. Staples may show minor discoloration. Minor staple tears and minor stress lines may also be present, as well as minor rust migration. Paper is tan to brown with no signs of brittleness. Centerfold may be loose. Minor interior tears may also be present. The autograph has no affect on the grade, as far as authenticity, I have an F.F. 8 that was given to me for a Christmas gift back in 82/83 that has the same autograph on the bottom of the splash page. lbcolefan and scburdet 1
grendelbo
4.5/5.0 C&P for 5.5/6.0 Signature looks legit and will have no bearing on the grade. Spoiler Here's my Kirby signature for comparison. Thanks for posting. scburdet and lbcolefan 1
LowGradeBronze
I think you'd see 5.0 on this as is and the sig has been done with a confident hand. Bears good resemblance to a true sig. More than that I could not say. Would likely press to 5.5 I was relieved to see the signature on the first page. Would be awful to deface that cover, even with the King's moniker. Mars76
Im in the 5.5-6.0 camp after a cnp. Also, I'm not into signatures but if I were to get one that would be the spot. And it does look like his signature to me. grendelbo and lbcolefan 1
rexinnih
I'm going the 5.5 route. Looks like Kirby sigs I have seen also. Great piece of history. lbcolefan
lbcolefan
Thanks for the replies. 5.0 seems about right and possibly 5.5 with a press. I don’t think it has a chance to hit 6.0. Does the Kirby sig add any value to the book. For instance say a 5.0 is $1500 does the sig add $50 or more? Or is it still a $1500 book.
Primetime
5.0 That looks like a legit Kirby sig. Love the New Year's Eve (12/31) arrival date on the front cover. lbcolefan
