Any clue how these ended up being 9.6s and not 9.8s. Can you see an appropriate defect in all of them?

Absolutely I can see the defects that downgraded these books. In at least one case, I am surprised the book graded a 9.6. Look for the little spine indents and color breaking micro-creases.

Well....yeah. More than one defect actually.

That 2nd one probably isn't a 9.6, if it ever was. Obvious spine tic in Pic #3. The other 2 may be obvious from the back covers.

That's normal, I have submitted about 125 books since 2019.  I finally got ONE 9.8 copy.  I have many 9.4/9.6 copies.
