The first GA book I bought was Mask Comics 1, after having seen one in the CBG auctions.  I just had to have it... fell in love with that cover and am still in love today!

Hahahaha... If only I kept going and didn't blow money on other junk!  I did buy more books slowly in the early 2000s.  But oh... the misery... when I think of the things I could have grabbed!

Early on, I was seduced by GA. From that time on, I bought as much as I could find and afford. I picked up the SA and some BA I really wanted as it became available at prices that were real affordable and managed to get pretty much what I really wanted. But GA has always and still is my main focus.

Part of my problem is that I like too much stuff.... comic books, books, pulps/dime novels, records, posters, prints, etc.  If I could have had more focus like Robot Man!

Just got my first GA book graded. ~10 years ago, I was going through a tough time, and discovering golden age comics really helped me through it. When I decided to dip my toes in, I was a hair away from pulling the trigger on a Human Torch book but fell in love with GA Green Lantern. Part of me wonders how different my collection might be today if I had gone for the Torch book instead. It's a goofy cover, and I knew it was coming back purple, but I love this book all the same.

I've enjoyed reading the stories here.

I'm originally from Australia and got into comics in 1987. Lcs had no Golden age and a small sample of low grade and over priced silver age books. I remember reading the overstreet updates quarterly magazine and remember a dealer talking about golden age covers and mentioned about Bill Battle 3 with its cold war and the striking cover of clairvoyant 3. I Stopped collecting new comics in 1993.

2005 I think when I got back into comics and with the internet I was able to buy back issue silver age books from metropolis. Also this time I looked up if they had those two golden age books the dealer mentioned so many years ago and they had copies so I bought them and still have them today so these are my first golden age books.

I collect from all eras though I don't do runs in golden age because of prices. I collect a sample like world war 2 covers from each timely and DC titles. A single digit early Superman and a pre Batman Detective. Just too many cool books from all eras and so little hobby money to aquire them.

Here’s what I recall as my first golden age comic, unremarkable in every way except for the gateway it provided to a young collector allowed into the back room for the first time of his local grocery store-turned-comic shop almost fifty years ago. It cost me the princely sum of $1, and there was no way, I thought to myself, I’d ever be able to afford those early Batman's for $25.
