Post TMNT 1 record?

For the record I think the price is a little insane and won't hold up over time, and that's coming from a fan of nintendo material as a collectible.

But I have to think that's a copper age record for anything that isn't TMNT 1?

Nintendo Power #1 (Nintendo of America, Inc., 1988) [Newsstand Edition] CGC 9.8 NM/MT White Pages....

Interesting... mainly because it's not a comic or even a "comic magazine"... how many non-comic magazines sell for $100,000+?

I think CGC 9.4 Playboy #1 (1953) might be the only one.

Sports Illustrated #1 (1954) is a "warehouse book", so they're easy to grab in CGC 9.8 under $5,000.

Are any other non-comic magazines even $25,000? hm

yes, and are there even any magazine size comics over $100k besides Turtles 1?

I struggle to think of any Marvel mag, warren mag, anything that would come close to 100k besides TMNT.

The Gaines copy of Mad #1 was $96,000 in 2019.

thx.   Good one to be aware of as its magazine adjacent lets say, but that #1 is a comic book, not a mag.

Yep, I forgot that the earliest Mad magazines weren't magazine-sized until #24. (thumbsu

I don't know anything about those titles, but I can't imagine there are collectors willing to go Playboy #1 levels of money for Time or Life.

Does anyone know?

High Times CGC 5.5 sold for $4,500 in 2021 makes me wonder what a Really HIGH grade would fetch.

Here is a quick list I pulled from an older  internet article.

Although several of these are either out of date (price wise) as here is the current GPA on a CGC 9.4 Playboy #1 First Print

As for Life and Time as well as National Geographic there are a few semi valuable issues , but a lot of these "most valuable " are in the thousands not even tens of thousands.

It is also worth mentioning that V1 1888 #1 National Geographic has sold as high as $100,000 however now the average sale is around $7k - $9k. That said if a Extremely High Grade came to market it has potential to be up there.
