twoseezy
See pics. Im not sure if its mold or something else? I have this in a box with some other key slabs. If it is mold, could it spread to the other books? Please advise? Can it be cleaned/removed while keeping a blue label? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated! zzutak
The correct term for this is foxing. Cheap paper (pulp) often contains metal contaminants. If that paper is stored in a humid environment, the atmospheric moisture can cause the metal to oxidize and rust (which results in small brown and/or yellow spots and/or blotches). Foxing is not the same as mold (although both are stains that cannot be removed by non-restorative dry cleaning). theCapraAegagrus, mjoeyoung, topofthetotem and 1 other 3
twoseezy
Is this foxing contagious to the other books I am storing this book with? I bough this book in its current state. My books are all stored in a temperature controlled environment.
Lightning55
I am fairly sure it is not something that gets transmitted, comes from the makeup of the book itself. And it's sealed inside a capsule within the slab, no? I don't know how it could migrate even if it had that ability.
