Gulf Coast Girl by Charles Williams      Dell Books #898  1955      $12  SOLD to goldust40

I forgot to mention Charles Williams above, he was at least as good as Keene, MacDonald, Goodis and Brewer. This is not an original as he started getting picked up by the Hardcover publishers like MacDonald did. A really fast read and great if you love boats. Incredible dynamic GGA cover art by Robert Maguire. One of his best for Dell.

Very Good Minus. This was my reader copy but the front cover is nice enough to display. Solid spine. Pages are tight. It has some chipping on the back and a wrinkle to the spine but well worth it for the front cover alone.

No Angels For Me by William Ard, Popular Library #591           $25

Ard was a top noir writer in the 50's. A gorgeous GGA cover by Walter Popp I believe, from the time when Popular had painted covers on front and back.

Fine/Fine Plus. Spine is solid and square. Covers are glossy, pages tight and supple. Light reader's crease and thumb crease. Minimal wear otherwise.  A pretty copy of a skinny little book that is usually trashed.

I found another copy of this bad girl so cut and paste is easy on the description :) About the same grade as the first one I listed.

The Sad Eyed Seductress by Carter Brown  Signet S2023    First print. November 1961      $15  SOLD to crassus

Phenomenal "landscape-oriented" Good Girl with a cigarette cover art by Robert McGinnis, one of dozens he did for the Carter Brown series, where he really made his name as one of the greatest GGA artists of the 1960's - 70's (through today!)  These are a bear to collect because there are so many variants and they are thin little Signets that get beat up so easily. Well worth the hunting though as there are many incredible nude and semi-nude covers. I've taken to buying any copies that don't have hard diagonal creases on the front (my pet peeve on GGA books)

Near Fine. Very Glossy. Spine is solid with slight slant, a light crease to upper right and a couple color skips near the spine. Doesn't have the creasing the other one had and the color scrapes are unobtrusive to the as, previously mentioned, awesome image.

Only The Very Rich by Carter Brown  Signet P3842    First print.      April 1969      $8

Sweet full length back shot, tailights cover by Robert McGinnis

Very Good. Very Glossy. Spine is solid with slight slant, readers crease and various finger beds. Tiny chip to right corner. And some pen on the first page, but the whites are bright and it's a fantastic cover image priced accordingly.

Great composition and colors on this Good Girl cover by Robert McGinnis.

Fine. Very Glossy. Spine is solid with slight slant, light reader crease and a couple light thumb creases, mostly on the back. A very nice copy.

The Mad King by Edgar Rice Burroughs  Ace 51402   $12  SOLD to Norrin's Lawyer

The first of the "Tall" Ace editions. A dynamic Frazetta cover.

Fine Plus. Appears unread or very lightly read. Square solid spine has a hairline crease. Color chip to top spine. Has a few pressure creases on cover that barely  photograph. Age toning to the pages and inner covers bring the grade down a bit. Structurally very pretty

Going to do a couple of "lightning round" Avons. Just one pic. They're great early GGA covers but not expensive and all are very solid square copies with minimal wear and no big surprises on the spines and backs for the grade. All in the VG to Fine Plus range.

A Woman's Heart by Guy De Maupassant    Avon 175     1948      $12

Classic "Clinch pose" GGA cover. Credited in the copyright office to Ann Cantor but likely a hired hand.

Fine Plus

Love In The Latin Quarter by Henri Murger   Avon 163         1948      $12

Another classic "Clinch pose" GGA cover. Not credited but I wouldn't be surprised if it was Barye Phillips. It looks a lot like his style on the Avon Digest 1st Edition of "Sinful Woman" by James M. Cain.

Fine Plus

Valley Vixen by Ben Ames Williams   Avon 153     1948      $8

Another pretty early GGA cover signed by "Strick" on the rim of her "neckline" if you could call it that, pioneer GGA cover artist Carl Stricker.

Very Good Plus. Square and tight, uncreased, bright whites, has a dust shadow at the right edge.

I'm not going to have time to list anything tonight but take a look back and take 20% off any of the new books from page 12 through 19 AND any of the already reduced Recap books :yeehaw:

I have another stack to list tomorrow, then I'm going to close this thread out before it becomes too unwieldy and the unsold books will go to my Ebay store.

I'll probably have another sale in a couple of weeks after I finish my sorting. The library is really starting to look nice!
