When the cover doesn't tell the story... 2 2

Bought this copy of X-Men 35 as part of an estate sale lot. Looks decent on the front cover, but opening it up, it is brutally miscut, and had the magenta plate misaligned at printing causing the colors to be messed up. Not even sure how you grade for those errors, although the book also has a chunk missing from the back cover knocking it way down to Good or worse before we even get to the manufacturing errors. Is there even an accurate way to account for that within normal grading standards?

Obvious manufacturing errors usually do not affect the grade. Except at the high end, might keep a book out of 9.8, 9.9, 10.0. I think you're safe.

Precisely; Unless something affects story, printing errors are ignored.

Looks like the pressman was asleep and the bindery operator as well.
