Howard the Duck 31 - Misprint or Variant?

I made a bulk buy of books, and initially thought this was just a torn cover, no big deal.  Sorting through later, I went to toss it in the dollar bin pile and noticed that the corner was not MIA, but uninked.
This book was released a few months prior to ASM 194, and we know about the nifty yellow variant.  What say you?  Anybody else have one like this?

Just a routine printing mishap from this era. My copy has the color next to the CCA stamp, but the yellow shading inside the “D”.

Do you have examples of similar “printing mishaps?”

That almost certainly had to have happened as a result of something covering the paper and preventing the ink from being applied to the paper.

A Google images search shows none other like that, the CCA stamps are all over the place and there seem to be lots of "Yellow Ds" and lots of "Red Ds."

Printing problems were rampant in the 70's.  This one is interesting, but I don't think it will be determined in the court of public opinion to be a variant.
