How much will a small BC tear affect the grade?

I have a book with a tear on the bottom edge near the spine. I measure it at 1/8". Anyone have any idea how much that will subtract from the grade? I saw a cheat sheet that said max 9.2 for a 1/4" tear but nothing for smaller than that.

Appreciate the great pictures. I agree that a book with this defect could not grade higher than 9.2. Your copy looks to be in the 8.5 range as-is, IMO.

Thanks. I'm not seeing the other defects that drop it below 9.0, what do you see?

A magazine may be in the 9.0 range, but a regular sized comic is most likely to cap out at 8.5.

So you both disagree with @etanick's cheatsheet, that up to 1/4" tears (double this one) can get up to 9.2?

It can go either way, but I always error on the side of caution.

The corners don't look sharp to me, and the edges don't look flat. I could be over-analyzing.

I probably disagree with that, yeah. (It's difficult for me to analyze defects in my imagination.)
