Alex Ross ME Help/Advice?
2 2

18 posts in this topic

Hi everyone.

I'm hoping for some advice, please? I received my books back from AR signing but not only did one have an ME, I'm convinced it isn't the same book I submitted.

l've attached images of both and as you can see, the signed one is full of white flecks and dirt/grit inside the sleeve, or potentially lots of surface damage to bottom of the book, whilst my original is clean & crisp. I wonder what you all think I should do or how I should approach this?

i've already contacted CC regarding my concerns, which they've immediately sent ME instructions but my main issue has been overlooked and I do not think a reholder will solve the it.

Thanks very much in advance.

Looking at the first image, I am seeing the same white flex that are on the signed copy, starting just below where it says "The Batman" and goes down and along the bottom more than half way across.  So, I believe it is the same book, as the dots on the blue label image match up to the ones on the signed copy.

Hi Mike,

Thank you for replying. The first image is of the signed comic as well, with all the dots. Alex’s sig is on the goons in first image. It’s only the last two images on the superman fabric that are the original, pre-signed dot, dirt & grit-less book.

let’s start with this, are you saying the last 2 images represent a universal blue label Detective Comics 1000 graded 9.8 book you sent in to be cracked, signed, and reslabbed by CGC?  I assume you didn’t crack it out before hand

The first glaring issue aside from the white spots you should be asking is why the signed book came back in a blue universal slab and not a yellow signature series one!?

That is absolutely correct. I sent that in as is, I did not crack it myself. And the signed book returned with the exact same universal certificate number & label attached.

I know the usual course of action would be to submit as an ME and get the SS yellow, which I will do, but I am hugely concerned by the dirt and possible damage to my book. Or if it is in fact actually my book. Even with the correct label, I’m not happy with the way the book currently looks.

and you shouldn’t be, so frustrating

looks like the scan they captured for that cert is the book they sent you, at least the back was already white

best you can do now is send it back in under the ME process (with detailed notes about both the label issue and white substance issue), hope it gets there and back safely and that whoever oversaw your book had a bad case of dandruff or just finished eating a powdered doughnut and it can be harmlessly wiped away and they correct the label and send it back without new issues

I don’t know how you can be convinced it isn’t the same book you sent … CGC QC (or lack thereof) is such a sad state of affairs these days

good on you to have taken or kept “before” pictures

I think so too. Someone on Reddit mentioned he had similar fleck situation and told CGC during reholder process and they wiped them off.

I’m really hoping the flecks below Alex’s sig is a cluster of flecks and not proper damage to the book 😬

Hopefully @CGC Mike can also help/pass on the fleck problem information to the reholding team…!

Hi @CGC Mike

Thanks for getting back to me. It is #4257154 and I’ll be sending the book back this week.

Thanks for passing on the info. I really hope all bits of white can be removed 🤞🏼🤞🏼

When you send it in, PM me this submission number, the tracking number, the packing slip number, 1 image of the comic you received and 1 of the comic you sent in.  Also, write the problem on the packing slip.  Be very specific about the problem.  After I receive your PM, I will contact the team regarding this.

Thank you @CGC Mike I certainly will, once I have everything set.

Unfortunately, I’ve now got another problem, as the cert is the old cert, it does not apply for the reholder service.

In addition, the correct cert doesn’t exist at the moment, nor does any book from that submission, as it is still marked as “QC/Finalized”.

I’ve sent another email to support@ so hopefully I’ll have another solution presented for return shipping within 14 days…

I am sorry that you are having all of these problems with this book.  Let me see if I can get a shipping label.  When I do, I will come back to this thread and ask you to PM me what I have posted above, along with your e-mail address, as this is how I need to send the label to you.

Here's a note from the team.   Once you have completed the mechanical error submission form, send me the packing slip number and your e-mail address, as I will have to send you the label.  In addition as to what is wrote below, you should write about the white flex problem.

The correct cert should work now, as the status was corrected this morning. Customer should try again using 425715400X format. They should also include a note that the label needs to be changed to the correct number instead of using the original cert.  The customer should now be able to see that the books on submission 4257154 are all Signature Series, and we can print the updated label and swap it with the old label when it arrives.
