Small corner crease impact?

Having difficult time trying to understand what the grading impact is of a 1/2" color-breaking corer crease on an otherwise 9.2-9.4 Bronze Age book.

I guess the question might be better phrased as "What is the highest/limiting grade that a book with a small color-breaking corner crease can be expected to receive?"

Thanks

It depends on a variety of factors, but 8.5 would be my best guess...

Even though books are graded in their entirety, the grading standards (not necessarily CGC's standards) for creases only...

NM 9.4 - A 1/16" bend is permitted with no color break.

NM- 9.2 - A 1/16-1/8" bend is permitted with no color break

VF/NM 9.0 - An 1/8" bend is allowed if color is not broken

VF 8.0 - An unnoticeable 1/4" crease is acceptable if color is not broken.

FN/VF 7.0 - Minor cover wear beginning to show, possibly including minor creases.

FN 6.0 -An above-average copy that shows minor wear but is still relatively flat and clean with no significant creasing or other serious defects.

For CGC grading, they have documented that a 1" corner crease on the front cover maxes the grade at 8.0 (8.5 on the back cover).  I personally have a very nice book marred only by a 3/4" front corner crease that got an 8.5. So I'm guessing that a 1/2" crease would max you out at 9.0, but it's just a guess.
