This was a great show ! - I made it straight to Alex and Austin’s booth at Reece’s Comics for a killer trade deal for a tremendous book. Made some small purchases at various tables, my favorite being Kit @AmazingComics413for Johnny the Homicidal Maniac 1 - 

There was some tremendous golden age , particularly pre Code horror in the room. Lots of Matt Baker covers too. This is a mini Baltimore Show in terms of comic selection and focus. 

There were a lot of Dave Stevens books on everyone’s wall. I grabbed an Alien’s World 4 and a handful of Superman keys (Superman annual 11, Superman 423) along with a couple of Adam Hughes covers. One guy pulled out the Wonder Woman 72 (Bolland ) that looked 9.6 for $30 ……😡

It’s a great venue with lots of space to manuever around. I stayed about 3 hours and only left because I had another commitment.

I feel like the female population was down this year from the past few years. Most of the women there seemed to be tagging along with their significant other. There was one woman, around 30ish, in Terry's booth haggling over the price of a Wonder Woman comic while I was standing nearby but, overall, it was largely a sea of flabby dudes lugging backpacks.

There were only two costumes from what I saw. That's still two too many.

I assume one was that Carnage dude? At least I think it's Carnage. Pretty sure he's shown up every year, saw him in the parking lot suiting up as I was leaving. Gotta be one of my least favorite costumes since it takes up a ridiculous amount of space with those stupid arms and it's not really a venue with room for something that size.

Yes, the Carnage guy that's there every year with his giant lobster claw hands taking up entire corridors. There was one other costumed fella there that I saw but I didn't recognize the costume. Some trenchcoat and mask situation.

I unexpectedly had less than 2 hours to spend at the show so I didn't do a lot of longbox diving. Some dealers' inventory was priced very optimistically. I pulled an Astonishing #55 from one box that was no better than a rough VG on a good day that was priced at $200; that's about 4x what it usually goes for. Pressed for time, it was a one-and-done day for me but I'm happy with my pickup.

I got there just before 11 and stayed for nearly 3 hours. I had a wedding up in the Winnipesaukee area last night so had to leave a little earlier than I wanted since I needed to grab a bite to eat as well. The venue is about a half a mile from downtown Concord so I was able to drive over after for a burger and a beer at The Barley House Restaurant & Tavern (great burgers!). Tons of books, good crowds and some really long lines for the artists.  I didn't see the carnage dude and like Ryan said, not too many women. I did see a number of kids at the show including a couple buying some ASM bronze. There was also an unconfirmed Roy sighting but he was out the door shortly after I arrived.

After a quick stop to see @AmazingComics413 I walked the room to locate some dealers that I wanted to check out. I wasn't sure if I was going to try to focus on one or two bigger books that are on my radar but wall prices were "elevated" from what I looked at. Many dealers seemed to be open to offers and saw a couple bigger books get picked up. Lots of tire kicking for sure, everyone seemed to want to know the price of ASM 252 but didn't see any move. I opted for working on some run fills and had good success and I was able to work some bulk discounts at a couple tables. The 4 Conan books completed my run from 1-120. The Hulk 145 is a really solid squarebound and has been eluding me for some time in higher grade. I'll definitely be back next year, great show!

Thanks again to Jason for putting on a great show. Austin and I had a great time, sold tons of books off the wall and did some trades/buying as well. Most of the dealers I talked to said they had a good show. For $15 a GA ticket is well worth it to see the quality of books in the room, in my opinion. Thanks to everyone who stopped by to make a deal or just say hi. We will definitely be back next year!

The big wall books on every dealer's wall was Dave Stevens. That's what happens when common $10 books suddenly 10x overnight I guess.

For the most part, prices were terrible. Not even worth trying to negotiate down. Not every dealer but certainly the majority. For example I was hoping to find a high grade Crow 2. I found two dealers that each had a copy in roughly F/VF condition with $300 price tags. That's an ultra specific example but it's illustrative.

Batman 227 seemed to be a highly requested book, for some reason. 

I overheard the phrase, "I'll be back" from every tire kicker handing a book back they were looking at. Not sure why that phrase was so popular.

I agree with you on the wall book prices. I steered clear of them and spent the majority of my time box diving. And even though I feel I didn’t do as well this year as well compared to last year, I still think it’s a great show.

Woah, nice. These were the exact type of books I was looking for while diving through the long boxes. Nice scores.

Funny about dealers saying they were good on buying Stevens books. Those guys all have boxes of them to piecemeal out. They are very common.

Smart move on box diving. Love the Jeep and First Love. Wall gazing is generally for suckers or those too lazy to dig the boxes. There was actually a time when virtually nobody looked in the romance boxes. Up until maybe 8 years ago, I was pulling Bakers out of boxes at guide. And guide was real reasonable on most.

Dave Stevens books, (God bless him) are mostly all common as dirt. I still pick up nice copies up at flea markets for a buck apiece.

Here it is! My 2024 LGC Old School Comic Show Report!

My wife & I have been vendors at the show since year one and we're always excited to go back. We headed towards the Everett Arena in New Hampshire late Friday morning, and when we arrived in the afternoon it was already busy on the show floor. Vendors and artists were hustling in & out of the entrance with hand carts in tow. There were comic boxes galore being hauled into the building, luckily the rain held out with spurts here and there. We chatted with Little Giant show promoters/comic store owners Jason & Celeste for a bit, checked out the new show programs (now in comic book format!), and then loaded in our books.

After getting our stuff set up for Saturday, we took some time to check out the other booths + get caught up with old friends & colleagues. While many of us see each other throughout the year at regional events, this show is one of the highlights.


There is a tremendous amount of quality & rare comic books at this event, which other shows/cons do not offer.
Little Giant's wall is staggering, so many books to check out I was overwhelmed. I definitely made sure to see Terry's + Superworld's wall books for a bit .  Our booth was next to Heroes Aren't Hard to Find and across from Harley Yee Comics. This was actually the location I was at in 2018, but over the years my space has moved around the room. We took advantage of the free lunch provided by Little Giant Comics and then headed over to the hotel. The Holiday Inn sells-out during this weekend every year, Little Giant also secures a discount rate for anyone staying at the hotel. Friday night was also busy - Jim Steranko exclusive Meet & Greet Dinner, Cocktail Party with show vendors and guests like Jim Shooter, and also a live stream by YouTube streamers 3Men in a Basement. I hit the pillow around 11 but the fun usually goes until about midnight, with die-hards continuing the party into the wee hours of the morning.

It seemed as though my alarm was buzzing to wake me up right after I set it. After getting ready & grabbing some coffee we headed to the arena. All that remained for prep was putting wall books up, so we arrived around 8AM....and to my surprise there was already a line of 20+ people.

When the doors opened to VIP guests they came in quick, we were bombarded by a crowd while many others B-lined it to their desired artists & creators.

David Michilinie had a line all day that stretched from his table all the way down to ours. Jim Shooter was across from us and was also busy all day. I did have a chance to see Steranko to pick up a couple autographs and he was also busy up until the end of the show. The ice sculpture in between Mark Bagley and Sam de la Rosa was astounding.

We were busy at our booth from opening all the way until late afternoon. I had clearance deals for this show (50 for $50 on all books priced $2-4 or fill a shortbox for $75 on all books priced $2-4) and I also had an entire short box of key issues & first appearances to premiere at the show. Every year I set aside books for the Old School Comic Show (and I've already begun work for 2025).




Lots of key issues sold including books like ASM 40, 50, 194, 252, 316, Secret Wars 8, Batman 423, UXM 15, 50, 96, 141. Offbeat books like The Hobbit, Johnny the Homicidal Maniac, or Sailor Moon were also popular with people visiting our booth.






We had a great time and the show flew by. I did get a chance to see some boardies including but not limited to @comicartfan @universal soldier@bentbryan

I had hardly any time to shop, which was a bummer because I do enjoy the end-of-show deals I can find. I'm already looking forward to next year!!!

Are you the one in the red dress and stubble? I wanted to say hello but felt too nervous.

I think this may be the first year with no pictures of me! Showing up late and leaving early has its benefits I guess.
