Submitting Book with Newsstand Not on the Census 0

Apologies if this has been asked before, but I just submitted a Newsstand Edition of Action Comics #695 Collectors Edition. Currently, there is not a separate designation for this Newsstand Edition on the census because they are very hard to find, especially in grade. 

My submission was entered into the system today and is labeled as "Action Comics #695 Collectors Edition" without the Newsstand designation. Will this be updated to reflect the Newsstand Edition after it is graded?

Great question! 

Yes Newsstand Editions are not currently listed on our census separately. The reason for this is Newsstand Edition is a label designation added to the book and not its variant for the vast majority of books. There is only a handful of exceptions to this rule. Because of this not being listed as a variant all you will see listed on the submission tracking page is "collectors edition". Rest assured the Newsstand designation will be reviewed and added accordingly by our graders to the label.

Thanks. That’s what I thought, but Heir to the Empire #1 has different entries on the census for direct, newsstand, and blank newsstand.

Correct! Good eye! This is one of the exceptions to the rule. The reason for this is the Newsstand (and blank Newsstand) editions have covers made from a different lighter stock than the direct edition. While most Newsstand editions only have a newsstand UPC added, in this case, the paper stock is completely different warranting the variant. Thanks for checking!
