Ron Funk
So IM looking at EBAY and this one caught my eye, FF 23 for 199.00.. https://www.ebay.com/itm/305211100275?itmmeta=01HS17H12KTF8YEWSFC9DQJYZK&hash=item470fffcc73:g:IEcAAOSwmS9lDxCS&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA8A4IjyKYKefQX7bQ%2FG5fqL%2FMd%2FlA47yZAwtPKmXzZ%2F8GQky%2BfvNYsuLjaSF3XLvg9FZh8ybBgK22hE0vdOxTPM34WpGv7dPOkkZBGTILShOxJgJVy68WtQwMgT2LRA0i6EEphHfXOT4nkz3fUAJE7N%2FyQx0TaEw29c1L8u6QxKUfk2meAJqZqi3Ei4mRv%2BUpAND2jokUBXy47mp%2BjaUVCM8WvljKrs3b7JS0Eibal8ngNcXm7NCTKQE%2FMCKStJtUHaapvXh0L6L64C%2BLKasVj9oYBZxBy9u7oLqz19e%2BajxN%2FH42d4EuXGFcNzNfWFo4Xw%3D%3D|tkp%3ABFBM7JHEp8hj Its graded a 4, but Im looking at it thinking this is a pretty clean book that should be a 5 or higher. Any other opinions out there? I mean in the end, the professionals graded it that way, Im just trying to find out what flaws might have taken it down. Thanks! shadroch
Have you looked at the notes on the book? CGC grades the whole book. You are looking at the cover. SOTIcollector
grendelbo
I agree it does look better than a 4.0. However, the seller's pics aren't the greatest and don't allow for a lot of detail to be seen. There is a lot of wear on the corners as the graders notes say. The creasing looks to be at the bottom right corner. The staining probably was the determining factor knocking the book down to the VG range. It'll probably only be a 4.5 on its best day. The Lions Den
It presents well in the holder, but I've found very few CGC graded books that were actually graded too harshly... grendelbo, Sigur Ros and KCOComics

These are some of my favorite books to buy. Lower grade books with great presentations. @Ron Funk I got much better at grading by using the "Spare a Grade" forum here. Basically people posts books and a bunch of board members tell you their opinon of the grade. I participated pretty actively for a year or so and learned a lot. And I'm still not an expert. I often reach out to people here for advice and thoughts. Edited March 16 by KCOComics grendelbo, The Lions Den, Dr. Balls and 1 other
Dick Pontoon
And if the OP is in the market for an FF #23, I'd say this one is priced a bit aggressively. A graded 4.5 just sold yesterday on ebay for $127.

Your comment is right on the money---I changed it to my personal experience to show that it doesn't matter how long you've been doing it, there are always times when you need some friendly advice. And as good as they are, at some point every grader at CGC has asked another grader for their opinion... grendelbo and KCOComics
