What appeals to me is the focus on Illustration Styles that are the most popular in their respective eras. The magazine ran from the early 1900's to the 50's and we see successful nods to Mucha, NC Wyeth, and Remington, among others. It was a wildly popular, first-rate publication that echoes the times in a spectacular fashion. Mind you there was a pure, simple vitality that characterized those days. But I do recall the painting being something of a record for a pulp cover painting sale back in 2008 at 42,000? That issue always seems to command a premium.
