ComicSupply Grading Contest v2: Left to name/start date.

Come on, I pop on here for a look and there's already some pizzing and moaning, Warlord's whining he doesn't have a spot, people are talking smack about their weird little "geek secret names" - it's like my worst nightmare multiplied by 10.

I am not trying to be funny or demeaning, I seriously am glad I never even thought about signing up for this. acclaim.gif

Father Mica: I think it might be helpful if I gave you some background on the different personalities JC has manifested. So far, I'd say there seem to be three. He's convinced...

Father Red: There is only one.

Yes, forgetting your original ID name and then having to create a new one because you simply cannot leave or do without spreading your rays of fun-loving sunshine at a comic message board is moronic.

But let us list his creative juices under 'U' for Ultimate.

Single handidly squelching all positive talk that might be given towards a MOVIE is an obsessive disorder.

Opening your mouth in a forum that you are not even involved in is ULTRA LAME.

Continuing to lurk and post in said forum like a politician at a fundraiser is even more Lame.

Reminding us constantly, that he has friends “outside”, that don't have anything to do with these Geeky Comics. This is the most pathetic attempt to say "I matter elsewhere".

Joe_Collector is what many might call, dare I say it..... a RAVING "FANBOY" GEEK.

A charge that he levels at everyone else. (oops, in my effort to be fair, I must point out that new people arrive daily to these Boards and may not have yet had the privilege of being bombarded with his gracious display of perfunctory abuse.)

We bask in your glow. At least I think it’s a glow. I haven’t quite pinned down that odor yet.

That's really the irony here. The fact that he is unable to see that he as big a "geek" as anyone on here would be amusing if it wasn't so sad. I don't mind 99% of his posts and I think he has good things to contribute, but the fact that he bashes other for being no-life losers when he has a post count of 15,000 under three IDs is ridiculous. Some serious self loathing going on. 27_laughing.gif

Hardly, and I can admit that I am as big a "comic book fan geek" as anyone else - okay, maybe not as zany as some on here, but that's where my geek-dom begins and ends.

I dislike sci-fi TV, detest Star Trek and the ilk, would burn Buffy/Angel/etc. DVDs if anyone bought them for me, detest the majoriity of comic book movies, have never been into porn, never wanted to watch smelly 'ho's at strip clubs, hate Monty Python, don't collect toys, statues, action figures or anything similar, have never played D&D, don't live in my parent's basement, am not short or fat, have 20/20 vision, have never dressed up to go to a Con, have never dressed up in a geek way for any occasion, don't feel confortable in a "geek setting", and have never really hung around people who I would classify as geeks.

I am not saying I am any better or worse than anyone else, but only that I have a single geek vice - comics. For some reason, comic books really affected me as a young child, and I continue to collect and take part in the hobby due to this incredible sense of nostalgia.

But that's as far as it goes.

You would be surprised how many people on here those paragraphs would apply to. I know everything you wrote describes me (well, maybe I do like the occasional porn movie, but that's neither here nor there). However, being as into comics as we are, I still think it's stupid to look down on someone who enjoys the above things. Are we any more or less geeky than someone who collects action figures and statues? What about someone who enjoys all of those things every once in a while? In any case it looks stupid, or at least bizarre, to call someone a geek on a comics messageboard. That's akin to calling someone a meathead at a bodybuilding contest. confused-smiley-013.gif

funny how JC STILL insults other peoples collecting interest as "geeks" with the same words he tries to prove he isnt one, or at least 'just' a comics geek.

What's your problem, I admitted being a comic geek, which IS one of the Top 15 or so geeky activities, but I don't go anywhere near the other 14.

If you want to insult me based on my comic collecting, go right ahead, I have no problem with that.
