As an adult male, it is embarassing the way the TEENAGE Supergirl is being portrayed for an adult male audience. The message seems to be to show a teenage girl with short skirts and pokey nips if you want to sell comic books. I know the argument is this is the way teenage girls dress these days, but they dress for teenage boys, not adult males.

Ah, come on.

Look at the 90's. Or any Mad piece. Especially that Mad AnotherUniverse.com #1. You know what I'm talking about. That was straight up porn.

Power Girl's recent appearance have always been centering on her "power". This issue doesn't surprise me at all.

I do agree that the Supergirl thing is a bit disturbing. But, it seems to me, that they've at least undertoned the breast situation. They could have easily given her bazookas the size of King Kong too (regardless of age). In this picture, the artist went a bit larger than some of the previous books.

Man, look at that "Bomb" book that came out last week (can't remember the name but a post came out months ago concerning it). It's straight up porn without needing a label. The chicks falling off of a building with the enemies face between her legs and his tongue is hanging out!! DOH

She is a teenage superhero drawn for adult males. You go to a message board and the inevitable discussion turns to what she is wearing under her skirt. Since teenage boys for the most are not reading comics, this is "adult" males discussing a teenage girls underwear. Breast size has nothing to do with the way she is drawn or portrayed.

And how does that make it better?

Sex sells, my friends. Personally, I think it's a crappy cover. The poses and body proportions are all out of whack. But it'll still sell cuz there's girls on the covers. As long as graphic novels and other books that'll be seen by the great public don't feature this pointless T&A, I'm okay with it.

Then there was that high school shower scene that Benes did in the concluding days of the PAD Supergirl run...

Power girl is drawn so chesty its just way over the top into stupid range. I can hardly believe the artist did this and said "Yeah, that's perfect!" Its just so ridiculous.

It's always been that way with Power Girl. Back in the JLI/JLE days, it was a running joke...

JLI/JLE was the joke...it's just unfortunate they had to stick decent characters in there to be laughed at.

'Twas a fine pair of books until Giffen/Maguire left. frustrated.gif

I would think by this time though the artist would draw her a little more proportionate and "realistic" (Yeah, I know, its a comic book). I mean, I'm just glad she can fly since she'd topple over if she tried to walk.
