Help with word balloon restoration

2 posts in this topic

Hello everyone!

I recently purchased a Gene Colan Avengers page:

avengers21131.jpg

I love the bottom panel in particular!

There is one word balloon missing, the some of the others are falling off as well, and they're yellowing, so I was considering going ahead and having someone fix the word balloons/lettering for me... Does anyone know of anyone they'd recommend for this?

Please let me know!

Great Gene Colan Avengers page! The missing text is as follows:

Iron Man: It's hard to believe that Jocasta just...ran off!

Thor: Still no sign of her?

But you probably already knew that....

I've never had to deal with missing word balloons on any original art pages, but I don't see why you wouldn't go ahead and replace them on this page.

While restoration/conservation is a hot topic with collectors and clearly degrades the value of comic books, it is largely acceptable with fine art collectors and can actually add to the value of paintings and other unique works of art.

I'd certainly be curious to hear what other original comic art collectors think about restoration and conservation.
