Looking for Fantastic Four #118 (and #117!)

Hi,

Sorry to address you, my name is Sergi and I'm a european comic art collector. I'm trying to put together the original art to the very first issue I read, Fantastic Four #118 (John Buscema / Jim Mooney), and I thought you might have some of its pages or perhaps know its wherabouts:

If that’s so I’d really appreciate you contacting me so maybe we can work out a deal or, if they’re not for sale, I can leave you an offer and stop looking.

I would also wellcome pages from Fantastic Four #117, the same story arch.

Thanks very much

That is rather strange. We've all got the generic eBay emails, "Hi, I noticed you bid on such-and-such before. Check out my auction......."

Hmmm...perhaps someone you've sold to before recommended you to the "e-mailer" as someone with access to lots of comics and comic related material?

Did you reply to him?

Chris

I appreciate spam when it is for MTU's or something that is actually nice like a high grade CGC book. I hate the spams that have advertised "NM" raw books when you can see spine stress from a mile away. 893censored-thumb.gif

I received the same email and directed him to a few art sites. Didn't seem too weird to me - especially based on all the viagra, boob enhancement, [!@#%^&^] enlargement, loan offers, drugs on the net , porn sites etc emails that seem to pop up every hour!

My guess is that he's in Europe, and as a result is not well connected, so he's trying every angle he can to find the art he's looking for. Can't say I blame him since I've been told it is very hard to get specific original art you're looking for unless you're "in the loop" with other art collectors/dealers. Most of the best art is sold privately.

Sounds logical to me. Can you imagine trapsing around Europe looking for original FF art? I know some of the original art has hit Europe but still in a definite minority.

I've received a number of similar emails from European collectors searching for original art, especially Marvel Westerns. I just think these guys are desperate and will send an email to anyone bidding on related material or who has a related website. Hey, compared to the other [!@#%^&^] that shows up in my inbox, I can't complain. I've done dumber things trying to find comics, art, or cartoon glasses I'm looking for.
