ASM #17 cgc 9.4 for $2600..?

Whoa!

 

A crash would not necessarily mean CGC high-grade books would sell for below guide. It would mean that actual sales of books would be 20% below what they were at their highs (20% is actually the amount the stock market uses to determine a crash).

 

If you bought a book at around market value for $1,000 last year, and now copies in the same grade are selling for $800, you have lost money. Yeah, you don't have to sell, so its just a paper loss, but its still a loss. It wouldn't matter if O/S guide said the book was worth $500 you still lost money.

 

CGC has created a commondity effect for many Silver-Age books.

 

And not to sound negative, but most people thought the internet stock market craze would last, and the Real Estate market craze in the 1980's would last and the Valiant craze in comics would last. Well, they didn't.
