Updated CAF gallery + Cerebus 56 cover recreation

Just did a bunch of updates to my CAF gallery, with more to come over the weekend (after I reduce copy and scan some more recent acquisitions):

Of course, I'm still amazed at the new pride and joy of my collection, this cover reimagining by Dave Sim of the Cerebus #56 Wolveroach cover.

Dave did this cover recreation in late 2005 and it was included in the February ACTOR auction (where I ended up getting it). The end result is more of a reimagining of the original than a straightforward recreation. The Wolveroach is much more defined in this version (hell, every toe on his foot has a life of it's own), and it wasn't raining in the original (again, the detail in each raindrop is stunning). Also the arrows aren't quite as stylized as they were in the original.

Media: pencil, pen & ink, watercolor

End result I think is superior to the original, but I think Dave wasn't completed satisfied with the final result and plans to try again in the near future.

Here's the original (for comparison purposes):

I asked Dave to recreate ther cover to 88 but couldn't agree a price - he ended up selling it on ebay for a lot and sending me a copy of it as a thanks for the idea - great guy - him and Gerhard are really top blokes.
