. Now I see what Wertham was so upset about.

 

To really see what he was upset about, we'd have to do a horror cover contest. Most of these crime comics are pretty tame in comparison, except for maybe the decap covers.

 

BTW, I thought for certain you were going to nominate a Flessel cover or two for this thread.

I don't think that Flessel's style was in the same genre as the books being nominated in this thread. Now, if we had a pre-hero cover contest . . .

Several of his Detective covers are clearly "crime" covers so I would be interested to see what you nominate. I'll nominate one if you don't, but I think you've seen more of them in person than I have.

I agree. Here's my favorite that I hadn't really studied until RHG nominated it in the NonSuperhero contest. Clearly a "crime" cover with the grisly image of a killer getting the jump on a G-man.
