The Ditko TOS #48 splash is pretty fantastic as well...I saw the entire book - or at least I thought - I never saw the splash...it's a real beauty! Just click on the "Comic Art" section of www.comiclink.com

I agree it's sweet.

But for a Ayers (or heck )inked Ditko I was shocked to see a $22.5K price tag on it.

 

That is about $8k more than I thought it would be, and at least that much more than I had seen similiar era Ditko pencil pieces with other inkers sell for in the last 2 years.

 

Now Ditko on Ditko this would be a fair price.

And I never thought Ayers was a particularly good inker for Ditko's style. Still, it's an impressive page and a splash from a key book.
