It looks like a different book. The one that sold for $355 seems to be in better shape than the one selling right now. The current one also has the bottom right corner missing completely and the other clearly has it's corner. Dunno. A little strange to have more than one copy unless you're a weirdo like me, but they appear different to me.

I think the bottom corners (both) are missing on both books. The newer scan just has that mark right over the bottom right corner, where the older scan was a bigger picture and the mark is off to the side not on the book. The other difference is the new scan is blurry and the old one is not.

Okay, it does appear to be the same book. It looks like he tucked the bottom right corner into the book for this current auction and it was unfolded for the first auction. The white box near the bottom shows evidence of this....I think.

Anyway, the new buyer just got a much better deal than the first one.

Late silver? Early bronze? Not sure, but who cares.... a couple of nice books.

I can't see why this got an 8.5 - the back is clean and sharp.

And one of my favorite colour-palettes from this era... BROWN!!!!

Call for notes.

There may be defect(s) that are difficult to discern when looking at a slab. CGC occasionally undergrades, but trying to determine that from a slab, much less via a scan can sometimes be difficult.

Oh, and those are nice books! (thumbs u

Took a little bit of a gamble on this one... and didn't really win. Still, it was cheap and it'll hold me until I can find a nice copy.

Forget the Gunner & Sarge tale - a KILLER Heath ski story in here...

Thanks Adam.

I'm trying to think who showed me that War Comics 11 for the

first time. hm(shrug)

When you showed me a scan of that book about a year ago I was hot

as fire to track one down for my collection. After a year with no luck

and then I open my most recent purchase yesterday and nearly fainted

when that was included as a freebie. :o

I love these boards :luhv: and thank you for showing me that incredible

book. (worship) Also another Kudos to Buttock for the freebies. (worship)

That GIC 84 is one of those all time great wordless covers (except for the very top). Just look at the frigggin colors that are used on that thing!!!! The deep blacks with the vibrant reds mixed with beautiful greys justaposed against the killer blue in the logo of GI Combat. If it was black and white, it'd already have been a Kubert tour-de-force, but then you add Adler's washtone sensibility and it's pure Big-5 magic all the way.

Now you've done it! You made me get outta my comfy chair and dig up my own copy just so I could look at it close up! Love that book!!!!!

You've been on a tear lately - NICE!

I got this in the mail yesterday... this is the ebay scan, but it came back looking way better than this. It was one of those 'aaaaahhhh' ebay moments... :cloud9: And really, does it get any better than talking helmets?

Great book Shep, :cloud9:

Not that it matters, but was this book purchased before or

after your attempt to stay away from e-bay? Either way is

an awesome looking book and another cover I've never seen

before. Thanks for sharing that beauty with us.

Mick, :hi:

I always love your analysis of these 10 centers and makes me

appreciate them even more. I had to pull my new book back out

of it's mylar again and study it some more. Truly a classic. (thumbs u
